2011 and 2012 CrossFit Games Champion Annie Thorisdotter declines her CrossFit Games Invite following her recent pregnancy announcement.
The news was announced through an official CrossFit press release made on February 27th and shared throughout social media.
With no surprise to anyone, Thorisdotter declined the invitation which led to her spot being passed onto upcomer Maddie Sturt as a result of the 2020 CrossFit Open.
The Morning Chalk up had this to say about the announcement:
As expected, the two-time “Fittest Woman on Earth”, Annie Thorsidottir has declined her 2020 CrossFit Games invitation. Thorisdottir and her partner Frederik Aegidius made the announcement that they are expecting a child three weeks ago. With the due date in August, it was just a matter of time that Thorisdottir would decline her invitation.
With the CrossFit Games mere months away, invitations are starting to go out to athletes as we see more CrossFit Sanctional winners and CrossFit Open winners accepting places to the games.
